God's Promise for You and Me

Guest Contributor: Alina Swanson

To thine self, be true.

We will mark off this countdown with little banners of trivial joy.

God, He causes all things ultimately to work for your good and for that I am forever grateful. Notice, that in ALL THINGS, as in EVERYTHING in your life is NOT WASTED.

”And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

-Romans 8:28

In Romans 8:28, as we wait for Him, we find rest in His Presence. He comes with healing in His wings, and our souls are lifted up as we wait, in silent anticipation. It’s been a while. This has been the most unpredictable year of...my...life... Sitting here, I hear the sound of a faint whisper, “Here I am, with you.” The sun, the air are still in this moment, looking on. I close my eyes, take a deep breath and open them for the first time. I glimpse into Eternity. It’s more than I ever imagined. This is life. Real life.

Where do you start or begin? How do you know you got to where you are supposed to be?

One word: Faith

We live our entire lives by faith in something. I, personally, entrust the faith that has been given to me in God.

“For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.”

-Romans 12:3

So, what keeps you going? How do you know and see and feel? Why do you live and eat and sleep? For everything that is ever done, there is purpose. Nothing happens through coincidence. In all of this, we all hunger for something: purpose, power, to be loved, or do something that fills the hole in your heart. You were made for something so much more: to be restored in your relationship with God as Eve and Adam were in the garden of Eden with God face to face. What a garden must that be! What a transition from the garden of Eden to Earth today! It’s incredible to think, seriously, “Where are you?” Certainly, we may have walked in the garden where Adam and Eve walked without even knowing it! Imagine that! Not only imagine, believe, that every moment can be like every moment walking with God, that is, don’t take your eyes off of Jesus! Each thought, each glance, each word heard, each smell smelt, everything is connected. Therefore, when you are consciously aware of the presence of God, it changes EVERYTHING. You are no longer the same and you can live a life of Faith. Why? Because Ephesians 1:3.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

-Ephesians 1:3

Let’s live in Heaven on this Earth like Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden. So, what do you hunger for? Check out the motives of your heart and question yourself as to why you do what you do. Because when you realize the gravity and the brevity of life, nothing else will matter than to be in the presence of God.  I will keep living until I do and rejoice in this day for it is the day that the Lord has made!
