Content as the Cows

I did not expect to be almost thirty and still single, but you know walking with God our life does not look how we thought it would. However, we need to know that the detour will be for our good and His glory,

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28 NLT

I am tired of being single, but I know my relationship status will not change until God deems it so. In the past week, I have seen a few engagement announcements on Instagram, and I had to delete the app off my phone to maintain my contentment.

These days we are not given many opportunities to practice contentment, but if you look around you will see examples. One of my favorite examples is cows. Maybe that is the country girl in me coming out, but honestly, next time you take a ride in the country take notice of the cows. They neither stress nor strive; they are CONTENT to chew their cud in the pasture they are in. They know the farmer will take care of EVERY need they have.

Could we say the same for us?

Do we believe the Good Shepherd will take care of EVERY need we have?

He will. It will happen when he wants it to, we are on his timetable.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the LORD. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are above the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than yours.”

Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT

The first verse says God’s ways are far beyond anything we could imagine, so let’s get ready for Him to blow our minds. Until that time, let us be as content as cows!
