Who Can We Trust in the Midst of the Storm?
There is joy.
There is hope.
There is peace.
There is a place that is our home.
There is a person we can trust.
His name is Jesus.
This season is not a surprise to Him.
We can trust Him.
We thought we could trust our family and friends.
They are freaking out about life too, though.
We thought we could trust the government. They are just as in shock as we are about this global pandemic.
We thought we could go to work or school and enter a stable and safe environment.
They are all closed now.
Everyone has gone home.
Everyone has closed their doors, and entered into a season of pain-evoking fear.
Everyone is worried.
Everyone doesn’t know what to do.
But we hold on.
We cling to hope.
We trust in a God who is sovereign over all.
-
So, we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
But we know who is in control.
We know that God is never going to leave us (Hebrews 13:5-6).
We know that we can trust God because He created the world (Genesis 1:1).
We know that God’s Word is true, and His Word endures forever (1 Peter 1:25).
We cling to what is true.
Psalm 23:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
For his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff,
They comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
In the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
Through this season of fear and uncertainty, we cling to God. He is the one we can trust, at all times. As we walk through this season, together, let’s allow God’s love to lead us. His love is strong enough. We can trust Him.
