Romans: Why Israel Rejected God
ROMANS: WEEK TWENTY FIVE
Read Romans 9:30-10:4
Up until now, Paul has focused on God’s sovereignty, but now we shift to the responsibilities we as humans have in response to God’s mercy and sovereignty. This week, read Romans 9:30-10:4 and journal through the following questions:
Why did the unlikely Gentiles find righteousness, when the likely Jews did not?
Read Hebrews 11:6, Romans 10:17 and Ephesians 2:8-9. How is righteousness obtained by faith?
What was the stumbling stone for Israel? (v. 32-33)
Does this contradict what we studied last week about God’s sovereignty? Why or why not?
How did Paul express his desire in action for the Jews? (v. 1)
What does Paul give Israel credit for? (v. 2)
So, what is the problem? (v. 2)
How does verse 2 challenge the idea that “It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere about your belief?”
Other than knowledge, what else were the Jews missing? (v. 3)
