March Letter From The Editor

“...for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” - Philippians 4: 11 - 13NIV

Here is holy.  

This is the phrase I’ve seen in sermons all over the internet during March. In this season of seemingly endless women’s conferences, this phrase has been repeated at all of them.  What does this mean though?  Why do we need to be reminded of living in the moment?

The truth is this, there will always be a next. There will be a new dream, relationship, house, or job.  How often do we get caught in the new, rather than living in the beauty of the moment? Today is sacred.  Right now as I write this in a coffee shop on the lakefront in downtown Milwaukee I’m reminded that here is holy.  

It is holy because this is our local coffee shop that has “drag queen storytime”.  Many who stand against God frequent this place.  My presence here is holy because I can bring the light of Christ.

If you haven’t followed or seen our Tirzah in the Word group, we recently reactivated our private discipleship group to grow our faith and relationships even deeper!  Chanel, one of our Board members, and I have enjoyed working closely together to create this private community.  This month our topic is evangelism, which is a personal favorite of mine.  I’ve learned to live my life with the mentality of “Here is Holy”.  

So many times we forget why we were put here on this earth.  Our purpose is to grow in our relationship with God and to bring others into His Kingdom.  Every single day is sacred.  There are people who intentionally create groups to go out and learn to evangelize.  I believe this is a great starting point to learn to share the Gospel with everyone.  However, here is holy.  You don’t need a group, a pastor, or a special holiday to share the Gospel.

As you go about your day, I encourage you to reflect on how you can make here holy.  For example, I’m sitting here in this coffee shop that stands against many of the things I believe in wearing a shirt stating what I do believe in.  That could be a conversation starter.  Look for opportunities to make grocery shopping holy, are there those who could use your kind words?  Are you a mom in a busy season at home?  You are reading this at home on your computer, so you may be the mom that comments on another mom’s Facebook encouraging her day.  Every day is an opportunity to bring God into it.  My prayer for you this month is to make here holy.

I do want to say we are grateful for this community.  You will never know how loved, valued, and prayed for you are.  A community like Tirzah could not happen without each and every one of you.  Every one of you has been a part of making here holy on the internet, whether by reading, participating in Tirzah in the Word, sharing on social media, writing for us, or helping run it. 

There is room for everyone in the Kingdom of God.
