Grow

Happy 2025 to you all, this is my first article of 2025 and honestly, it's hard to write articles sometimes when you just don't know what you are going to write about.  At church the word of the year is grow. It comes from Colossians 1:10.

“So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God”

-Colossians 1:10

This scripture is saying that the way we live should always honor and please the Lord. If we do that, we produce fruit while we are also growing to know God better.  Growing in Christ takes effort. Growing in anything like volleyball or pickleball takes effort just like with God, growing with Him takes effort. The more consistent time we spend with Him, the more we will grow in our relationship with Him. Growing comes from knowing. If we know Him, we obey him. If things are the same, there's no growth. If we aren't spending time with Him, there's no growth. Knowing God better leads to growing up. The more we know Him, the more we grow in our faith. This walk of faith is not easy. During his sermon, my pastor spoke on how spiritually, growing is not optional, it’s an essential part of our relationship with God. The apostle Peter also addresses this.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

-2 Peter 3:18

This verse teaches that spiritual growth is an ongoing process that involves deepening one's understanding of God's grace and developing a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Growing is an ongoing thing everyday in our walk with Christ. You can't mature in your faith if you can't grow up.

Prayer

Lord, I pray you help whoever is reading this to grow in their faith. Help them become more mature everyday and develop a closer relationship with You.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
