Book Recommendation: What Will They Think?

I was asked to review Grace Valentine’s book “What Will They Think? Nine Women in the Bible who can help you live your life boldly”. This book was amazing and Grace was so talented.  If you’ve read my reviews before, you know I can be incredibly picky about books - especially books that fall into the psychology and self - help category.

Grace nails it at balancing Scripture, pointing to Jesus, and uplifting women however!  Every woman she tells the Bible story of relates so well to her 21st century life and your life today.  I feel like I got to know her as a person and admire the way she BOLDLY stood for her calling

“Boldness is confident yet humble.

Boldness is daring yet patient.

Boldness is loving yet resilient.”

-Grace Valentine

She not only stands for a calling for herself, but also for those whose stories are different than hers.  Grace relates the story of Mary Magdalene to God’s redeeming grace in our stories.  She relates the story of Mary for the girls who are following God’s path in their story and feel lost & confused.  There is the story of the woman with the issue of the blood who feels lost and hopeless.  So many different backgrounds and stories are there for us to relate to as women!

“I hope I meet a man one day, but I hope I meet a holy man. I hope I meet a man who, like Mary’s husband, Joseph, can hear God’s plans himself.  I hope he supports me in my crazy, and I hope I push him to be bold.” - Grace Valentine

Not only are there so many different stories to relate to - Grace relates back to the single young woman.  Like our mission here at Tirzah, she seeks to empower young women to follow after Jesus first.  Using an example like Joseph - Grace shows that God can bring the exact right man for you & your calling.  If you think your dreams are too big for a marriage - remember Joseph stayed with Mary.

“Your Savior calls you daughter.  You don’t just have a good Father; you have a great Father who is consistent and won’t walk away.” - Grace Valentine.

Grace speaks to the woman who didn’t have an earthly father to show the Heavenly Father’s love.  She speaks to the heart of the girl longing to hear “daughter” from a man.

Grace reminds you that you are not forgotten and you are the daughter of the one true king.  This book was so inspiring for me for these reasons and so many more!

Grab your copy today and you will finish feeling reminded that your Heavenly Father chose you for a special purpose here on this earth!
