Shoba's Corner: On The Potter's Wheel
Devina quickly tidied the nursery and took her Bible and escaped to the quiet of the porch to dig into God’s Word.
Rita loved this time outside the tennis courts as her boys played away. She could think back over her day and commit the small and the big things to God. It was her quiet time.
Paula wiped a tear as Zach’s harsh words replayed in her head. She scrolled her phone as she waited for her children in the car outside school. She had a good 10 minutes and she was going to read the Word.
Each time we read The Bible and seek God through prayer, we are lifted onto the Potters wheel.
Maybe today, you feel like a broken pot, a tired, weak, messed up pot! In Psalm 31:12 David says, “I have become like a broken pot.”
If you are feeling that you have messed up, that you have made unwise choices as a Mum, if you screamed and shouted when you should have been gentle….you are the material God is waiting to work on. He will gently lift you and place you on the wheel to work with.
Last year I had the chance to potter around with clay! I learnt to make a fish using clay, from a dear friend and went on to make a clay frog (a colorful, poisonous one) and a nut bowl with zebra stripes. Working with clay taught me that I could always start again. As I started on a clay flower I dropped it on the way to the kiln. I picked up the broken pieces and am going to start on it all over again. I can use the broken bits of clay to make something beautiful and useful.
