Letter From the Editor: A New Reign

“He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” - Daniel 2:21

The month of September did indeed bring a monumental transition to the world. England would lose their beloved queen and crown a new king. Did you ever think about the fact that with every death there is new life?

Queen Elizabeth II was a woman renowned for a beautiful life. She was known for her faith. Billy Graham talked of his friendship with her. The Queen even released a book about her faith. She was beloved by a family, a nation, and the world. Her marriage was more years than many and truly death do us part.

What does all of this mean? It means we can rest assured that she has received a new life. Her death has brought her into a new eternal life. One where she has an eternal ruler and can rejoice with the MANY people she served. That is a life we all dream of one day!

As we reflect on the changing times and seasons, think of the new life in your own story. Are there moments and times when you had to “die” to come to “life”? Think of King Charles III. He “died” to the role of “heir apparent” to become King. Are there areas where God wants to take you from “glory” to “glory”?

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the LORD’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever - increasing glory, which comes from the LORD, who is the Spirit.” - 2 Cor. 3:18

I look back on my own life and see where God has taken me from “glory” to “glory”. With every role laid down, He gave me an even greater role than I can imagine. For every time I “died” in the one role - like Queen Elizabeth - God raised up an heir apparent. That is how it’s meant to be in life.

We are meant to continually go from glory to glory until we one day reach where Queen Elizabeth now is. Don’t be afraid to “die” to the old in this fall season and to make room for the “new”. Rejoice in the old and the beauty of where you served. Celebrate the “new” and what is to come.
