Good No Matter The Season

Life is full of seasons.

God created all the seasons, and he is good no matter what season we are in.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV

I’m single and you know what, God is still good. He can’t deny His character. God is good all the time. Period. End of story.

“How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God ours!” -Psalms 116:5 NLT

Do I wish my relationship status would change? You bet. However, for however long this single status lasts I believe that God is still good. But Mary Hannah, what if I am having a bad day? He is STILL good.

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be[a] against us?”-Romans 8:31 ESV

What shall we say about these bad days? If God is for us, who can be against us? Not even these bad days.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”-Romans 8:37 ESV

I am a glass half-full person, who looks for the positive ALWAYS. I mean, at least you are still here to enjoy the bad day. If God created the day, He thinks that it’s good, and so should you.

“This is the day that the Lord has made;

let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalms 118:24 ESV

Even if it is the worst day you have ever lived, it’s still a day that the Lord has made.

I challenge you to find the good in your bad days. There’s something good in them. Even if it’s just the rain (I think bad days are meant to be rainy) or sunshine.

I love rain, now that while we’re on that topic. There is a story behind the fact that I love the rain. When I was about seven, I was figuring out this God thing and I remember this like it was yesterday. I got my knees and prayed, ‘God, if you’re real, make it rain.’ Next thing I knew it was pouring down rain.

The next time I saw my Sunday school teacher, Ms. Kathy, and accepted Jesus into my heart. It’s a good story until you learn that at that point my faith was passed down to me through my parents. I grew up in a Methodist church and it was a great place for me to start my faith journey.

Roads have bumps and turns and do faith journeys. It was seven years before I fully started believing on my own, not just what Mom and Dad shared with me. In that span, I found the evil of pornography and that changed what I believed about sex. Even then God was still good.

In church we start the service by the pastor saying, “God is good,” and the congregation would respond, “All the time.” “And all the time,” the pastor would respond, “God is good.”

No matter where we are in life, God is good.  Even in that dark moment that I was marked by pornography, God was and is good. He does waste an opportunity to turn a situation to turn it for good.

“And we know that in all things God works together for good of those who love him and have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28 NIV

You know in the Methodist church this verse is quoted a lot. It wasn’t until I was amid that past that I learned the truth of that verse. Every situation is an opportunity for God to turn to good.

When I was fourteen, I was at a youth conference and stood up to accept Jesus Christ as the dictator of my life. Iit shocked my leader., Hher response was, “‘you grew up in church, so I just assumed.”’ That reminds me of this quote,

“Just because you go to church doesn't mean you're a Christian. I can go sit in the garage all day and it doesn't make me a car” ― Joyce Meyer

Chairs are filled at church with people who call themselves Christian but are not walking the walk. That was me for seven years of my life, but now I am tryingI trying to walk the walk in my life. I’m still a work in progress and I still struggle, but I have come a long way.

I believe one day (I hope it’s soon, but my future isn’t my own) my single status will change and until then He is still good. I believe God hasn’t forgotten me. He is a promise-keeper we can count on. He makes the rain and provides the shelter for me to hide under.

“He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”

Psalms 91:4 ESV

I challenge each of you reading this to look for the good in your bad days.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hey y’all! My name is Mary Hannah. I remember when I was little, all I wanted to be, a writer and now I am living my dream. It makes this small-town girl’s heart excited that y’all are reading what I write. I reside, in what I think is the best state in the south, Georgia; where sweet tea is an option at every restaurant and pecan pie is a necessity at any family gathering. I am just single gal, who is trying to find the path to love, but no matter how long I am waiting until love finds me; I’ll still be praising God. I love Jesus with my whole heart; I write to spread his name and fame throughout the earth. Some fun facts about me: I’ve crossed the Boston Marathon finish line I love the smell of cut wood (it takes me back to my childhood) I’m down for a cup of coffee no matter the time I prefer dark chocolate over milk I would rather deal with cockroaches and/or spiders than ANTS! If you want to read more of my words check out my blog: tbdmlp.wordpress.com I’ll leave the cockroach talk out!!
