TIRZAH

Tirzah is a women's lifestyle online publication. Our mission is to inspire and equip a generation of young women of noble character, rooted in the word, fruitful in good works and faithful in all things.

This is a community ministry. What does that mean? It means our magazine is operated by a diverse team of volunteers (young women from all walks of life and from all over the world!). Our operations are funded by the generosity of your donations and proceeds from our shop. Because we see your heart for Kingdom work and we want to provide the platform for you to share your testimony of all that God is doing in your heart and to inspire and equip you to use what God has given you to build up His Kingdom.

Practically, that looks like publishing your stories, testimonies and teaching articles in Tirzah Magazine, studying Scripture with you through our Tirzah in the Word quarterly studies, providing Bible studies for you to walk through in your quiet time, and becoming the place where you can serve and build up a treasure in heaven.

Do you have an idea for how to expand Tirzah's ministry that aligns with our mission? Maybe it's an article idea, or a column you want to write, or maybe you have a Bible study you want to write and share with other young women, or any other way you may want to use your God-given abilities and gifts to encourage your fellow sisters in Christ - reach out to us! Because we are merely a platform and a vehicle for God to do His work and the way He does that is through people. We don't require years of experience or degrees (although those are welcome here too!), but instead look more for girls and women rooted in Scripture with a heart for pointing others to Jesus.

Welcome to our corner of the internet, friend. We are so grateful the Lord brought you here and we pray you'll get a glimpse of Jesus in our midst.

TIRZAH MANIFESTO

we BELIEVE:

  • that God is sovereign; to Him belong the greatness and the power and the glory and victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is His. His is the kingdom and He is exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from him, and He rules over all. In His hand are power and might, and in His hand is to make great and to give strength to all (1 Chronicles 29:11-12).

  • that Jesus Christ paid a great price for us with His own life when He died on the cross for each of our sins in order to give us eternal life (John 3:16). His blood made us white as snow and that changed everything (Isaiah 1:18). In Him, we became a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

  • that we are saved by grace through faith, and that this is not our doing, but the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8).

  • with our hearts and with our mouths we confess that Jesus is our Savior, who God raised from the dead (Romans 10:9-10). By accepting Him as our savior, we live accordingly (not conformed to our former ignorance), but wholly transformed and sanctified.

  • that our faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). For all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16), and so everything we publish and share is first and foremost supported by and rooted in Scripture.

  • that we live out our faith through works (James 2:18), for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:8-9).

  • that we are called to fruitful lives (John 15:8), not to be idlers, gossips and busybodies (1 Timothy 5:14).

  • that all the works of our hands - secular and spiritual - is kingdom work to be done as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord we will receive the inheritance as our reward, for we are serving the Lord Christ (Colossians 3:23-24).

  • that each of us given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good (1 Corinthians 12:7) in the form of spiritual gifts, natural abilities and a holy calling.

  • that our holy calling is to make Him known in all that we are and all that we do (Matthew 5:16). Because we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that we may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).

  • that we are called to make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe all that Jesus has commanded us (Matthew 28:19-20).

  • that the Holy Spirit is our Helper, whom the Father sent to us in His name, to teach us all things (John 14:26) and to help us in our weakness and in our prayers (Romans 8:26).

  • that the woman who truly walks with God is fruitful in the Spirit and filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness  gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

  • the the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working (James 5:16).

  • that pure and undefiled religion before God is this: to bridle your tongue, visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world (James 1:26-27).

  • that we are made for community and fellowship with the saints, in order to encourage one another and build one another up (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and so we do not neglect to meet and serve together in our local churches and in the bigger global church of Christ (Hebrews 10:25).

  • in showing hospitality to one another without grumbling (1 Peter 4:9), so we always keep the doors of our hearts and homes, welcoming all with a 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love and not showing partiality (Leviticus 19:34).

  • in the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, Genesis 2:24, 1 Corinthians 5:9-11), and that God created unique roles for the husband and wife within a marriage, calling wives to submit to their own husbands, as to the Lord, and for the husband to be the head of his household by loving his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:22-23).

  • that older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much mine, and that each woman is an older someone to someone, and so instructed to teach what is good and so train the young women to love their husbands (including future husbands!) and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled (Titus 2:3-5).

  • that we as women are to adorn ourselves in modest apparel, with proprietary and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or pearls or costly clothing, but which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works (1 Timothy 2:9-11).

  • that a woman's beauty is not merely outward - arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel - rather it is the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sigh of God (1 Peter 3:3-4).

  • that we as the church are the bride of Christ and we are making ourselves ready for the marriage of the Lamb, where it will be granted to us to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints (Revelations 19:7). And God Himself will be with us and be our God. He will wipe away every tear from our eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away (Revelations 21:3-4). There shall be no more night there: we need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God will give us light and we shall reign forever and ever (Revelations 22:5).

White family grew up and did ministry in the inner city where most people are black.  Hardship and confusion set up a path for Alycia to either be a victim or see the beauty of opportunities ahead.

Her trust in the Bible above circumstance has led her to be on a beautiful adventure with God and many different groups of people!
