Writing Verses in Our Hearts

woman in gray sweater holding pen and writing

I am so excited about what we are doing today. We are going to be drawing out verses which will help us learn them. In 2020 when COVID hit us and we were all stuck in our homes, my friends and I met on Zoom to draw verses. It started when my friends Winnie and Sheila said they just could not draw. I wanted to rid them of that fear to draw so encouraged them saying we could do a session on drawing verses together. We had fun!

My word that goes out from my mouth

It will not return to me empty

But will accomplish what I desire

And achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 NIV

So, to get started, grab your journal or sheets of paper or a notebook (no bits of paper or tiny note pads or scrap paper please), a pencil, a pen, and an eraser. We use the pen to write out the reference so it stands out clearly.

Impress them (God’s commandments) on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you get up…Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6:7 and 9 NIV

If you are a mother and you have toddlers or children who love to draw, this is an excellent way to memorize Scripture. Do use it with Sunday School children and share it with your adult friends too!

We will be drawing out 10 verses today.

We will draw the highlighted words and fill in the rest of the words with arrows, lines, or words (varying the fonts and sizes).
