No Matter How Far I Fall, He Will Always Catch Me

Two months ago, my life was playing out like a movie. Then two months later, the plot drastically changed. In essence, I feel like I am falling - my future was laid out before me, then the rug was pulled from under me and my plans were snatched.

There was a new boy I was talking to and my life seemed like it was on Easy Street. Now it's August and the other shoe has dropped.

When nothing makes sense in my life, I think of this pinecone I keep in my bedroom. Where I live in Georgia, we have a lot of pine trees. We live on 113 acres of land and I would say 50% of that land is pine trees. One morning, I was out walking on our property, and I was frustrated about my singleness season. I was in my early twenties and I just wanted a glimmer of hope at the end of this singleness forest.

I saw a pinecone fall out of the tree, (the exact one that now sits in my bedroom), and God whispered over my heart,

‘No matter how far you fall you will always be in my hand.’

Being reminded that the God of the universe holds you in His hand when everything seems to be going wrong is a fantastic comfort.

“I cried out, ‘I am slipping” but your unfailing love supported me.”

Psalm 94:18 NLT

His love will always catch us when we fall. We will never be left on our own when we stand with God.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”-

Romans 8:35 & 38 ESV

The pine trees around my house are massive. They have been growing around here for generations. If they could talk, the stories they would tell. My life may get harder before it gets better, but like the pine trees, I will be deeply rooted. I will be deeply rooted in my faith.

“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”- Psalm 1:3 ESV

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hey y’all! I have a good ole Southern double name, Mary Hannah. I reside, in what I think is the best state in the south, Georgia; where sweet tea is an option at every restaurant and pecan pie is a necessity at any family gathering. I am just 27-year-old single gal, who is trying to find the path to get out this season of singleness. I love Jesus with my whole heart; I write to spread his name and fame through out the earth. Some fun facts about me: I’ve crossed the Boston Marathon finish line. I love the smell of cut wood (it takes me back to my childhood). I’m down for a cup of coffee no matter the time. I prefer dark chocolate over milk. I would rather deal with cockroaches and/or spiders than ANTS! If you want to read more of my words check out my blog: tbdmlp.wordpress.com I’ll leave the cockroach talk out!! 😉
