Celebrate Your Season

I have been through a few seasons in my life so far. God has shown me in each season how everything works in His timing and not my own. Some may recall parts of their life with bitterness or despair. Thankfully, I can reminisce on my own with fondness and gratefulness. God had His hand on my life through those times, and His faithfulness is truly evident looking back.

I had a long period of time where I had to work hard and practice patience to be accepted into my graduate program. Once I was accepted, I had to work just as hard to finish that program. And I now have a career that I love as a result. Did I want to quit at times? Of course! Did I ask God when it would be my time? You bet I did. Looking back though, God had it under control. He opened doors for me I thought were closed for good.

I also have lived as a ‘single girl’ for many years. I had the occasional casual boyfriend, but I lived in a state of singleness. Were there times I wanted to throw in the towel when I had to attend another baby or bridal shower or saw another engagement post? You know the answer. But I enjoyed that time and can see how God was using it for my good (and even wrote about it here: The Greatest Blessing I Never Knew I Needed), and am now living in a different season.

What I am trying to say is - honey, hold on. You may feel like you are at the end of your rope with the place you find yourself. Hold on tight. Dig your heels in. Find God in your season. He is right there with you. He is working on your behalf on things you may never see. God is going to see His good works in you until they are completed (Philippians 1:6).

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from the beginning to end.” -Ecclesiastes 3:11

We have no idea how God is moving, but He is on your behalf.

Today is a gift, don’t waste it.

Find your joy and walk in God’s will for your life. Gratitude for your current season helps you to be able to see your blessings. If you can’t find joy in this season, you most likely won’t enjoy the next, and that may be the saddest part of all.

If you are a wife and mother, celebrate your season. If you are single, celebrate your season. If you are trying to have a child, celebrate your season. If you are trying to start a ministry or running a megachurch, celebrate your season. If you are a stay-at-home mom, you go girl! If you are working towards a degree or promotion, you got this! If you are the CEO of corporation, get it girl! Celebrate your season now and thank God for all He is doing now. God may not be answering that prayer right now, but remember He is blessing you in so many other ways and answering other prayers you have prayed right now. There is a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8), and you can find joy in your life now. God wants us to live and live fully (John 10:10).

I recently came across a song by Lauren Alaina called “Getting Good.” She sings how once she falls in love, obtains wealth, grows older, buys a new home or car, then her life will start getting good. At the end of the song she sings, “I’m thinking once I learn to soak up every moment, I’ll realize my life’s already good. Thank God that my life's already good.”

Thank God for your good life. Celebrate your season, no matter what it looks like. Don’t wait, or you might miss wonderful evidence of His faithfulness.
