Being Thankful Right Now

I feel like my future was served to me on a silver platter, but I didn’t want it and sent it back to the kitchen.

When we jump ahead of God’s will for our lives, we might get bruised.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:6 NLT

I love the parable where Jesus talks about seeking and finding. It’s one of my favorites and gives me so much hope for my singleness season. Jesus promises us that if we ask, it will be given to us. If we look for it, we will find what we are hunting.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Matthew 7:7 ESV

Some of us are looking for a purpose, some of us are looking for answers, and some may be looking for a man. At one time or another, I have gone through the exact tunnel you might be walking through. I urge you to walk. Running, you speed through the season you are in.

Count it all joy my brothers when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

James 1:2-4 ESV

Finding joy in dark moments can be challenging, but start with thanksgiving. When we have a spirit of thanksgiving, it’s easier to find the joy.

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

That verse says to give thanks in ALL circumstances. Not just the moments that make you happy and when the sun is shining, but all. When the sky is dark and you are disappointed, give thanks in that time.

When your singleness season seems to be dragging on longer than you want, be grateful.

He is not being slow; He is waiting for the right time. (2 Peter 3:9) If God gave you the man you are asking and seeking right now, it would blow your mind.

Give thanks for the gift you have opened and enjoy it while you can.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hey y’all! I have a good ole Southern double name, Mary Hannah. I reside, in what I think is the best state in the south, Georgia; where sweet tea is an option at every restaurant and pecan pie is a necessity at any family gathering. I am just 27-year-old single gal, who is trying to find the path to get out this season of singleness. I love Jesus with my whole heart; I write to spread his name and fame through out the earth. Some fun facts about me: I’ve crossed the Boston Marathon finish line I love the smell of cut wood (it takes me back to my childhood) I’m down for a cup of coffee no matter the time I prefer dark chocolate over milk I would rather deal with cockroaches and/or spiders than ANTS!
