2020 Advent Devotional Series Starts Nov. 29

2020 has been quite the year for all of us. There is so much noise in the world right now - elections, COVID-19, lockdowns, economic downturns, speculation about the future. And for a while, I was allowing all of that to fill me. Not surprisingly, I found myself fighting waves of anxiety and finding comfort in distractions.

Maybe that is why, as we step into December, I have been craving peace. I’ve felt the pull to spend less time on social media or reading the news - to put my phone away - and be fully present in each moment. But most of all, I feel the call to spend more time on my knees and in His word. Because my soul desperately needs my Savior right about now.

Anyone else feel that way?

When Isaiah prophesied about Jesus’s birth, Isaiah wrote: “And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Is. 9:6).

That’s what I want Jesus to be for me, especially this year and in this season. I need His counsel. I want to experience His mightiness in action in my life and in the word around me. I want to pray to Him as to a Father and to be reminded that kingdoms come and go but my God’s kingdom is everlasting. Most of all, I need Him to be my peace. Because the peace He gives is not like what the world gives us (John 14:27).

If you’ve been around for awhile, you know that we take time off in December from creating new content. It’s a busy time for everyone and we want our staff and readers to spend this season with their loved ones. But, given how 2020 has been for us, complete silence also felt inadequate.

So, to quiet down the noise around us and to help us focus more on Jesus this season, we’ve decided to do an advent devotional series. This content will be in lieu of our regular content on TirzahMag.com.

The devotionals will only be available to our email subscribers (and we’ll share snippets on social media).

We will start the series on Sunday, November 29 and go through Christmas Day.

We pray that these daily devotionals point you to Jesus this season. That they would fill you with peace and remind you of who Christ is for you.

From us to you and yours, merry Christmas and a happy new year!
